My Pet Vampire Squid
Mom says no way
but I know she doesn’t mean it.
A Vampire Squid is a perfect pet.
See, I know all about them.
I know they’re
not quite squid
not quite octopus
their tentacle tips glow in the dark
like eyeballs
and when they’re afraid
they wrap themselves up in their
umbrella tentacles
like a long, dark cloak.
I know just how they feel
and how to take care of them too.
All you need is a large tank
in a dark room
and a little brother
with plenty of blood.
