About Me

The Quippy Bio

Novelist and freelancer getting my MFA in creative writing from Brigham Young University in Utah. Blond, fanatical, not-as-naïve-as-you-think uber-dork. Either writing, reading, or obsessing over a movie or show with painfully stunning acting. Slyther-puff, cinephile, Jane Austen groupie. Secret lover of jazz and post-grunge rock, not so secret lover of Colin Firth, white chocolate, cavalier king charles spaniels, and Frasier.

The Mini Bio

Sarah is a contemporary adult and young adult writer originally from Provo, Utah, where she studied English at Brigham Young University. She is the oldest of 8 kids, which is an adventure. She has studied creative writing since middle-school, and has been working on submitting the small portfolio of poems and short stories she has accumulated since then, mostly because she’s too optimistic and inexperienced to know you’re not supposed to just submit everything you write. She's currently getting her MFA from BYU. Right now she’s working on querying two novels and lots of stories and articles.

The In-Case-You’re-Super-Bored Bio

Sarah was born in Provo, Utah, on December 31st, 1988, giving her parents a tax cut. The advantages stopped there, however, as it was soon discovered that she had Turners Syndrome, meaning she was missing an X chromosome. She was also found to be incredibly stubborn, which helped make Turners Syndrome a relative non-issue, but did not make her an easy child to raise. To this day she isn’t sure how her parents survived not only her, but seven additional children. Her siblings are much cooler than she is, which probably helped.

She graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English. Her dad taught her to memorize The Cat In The Hat at the age of two, and her life has been books ever since. This made majoring in English an easy decision. Though she could not possibly pick a favorite book, her idols are Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, George Elliot, and J.K. Rowling.

Though interested in all possible genres, she tends to write about middle aged men, which for some reason doesn't surprise anyone who knows her at all. She has an obsessive personality, and though that’s probably not the funnest for the people around her, she can’t help it. It occasionally results in such dangerous behavior as buying all 11 seasons of Frasier and watching the entire thing in about two months. She watches way too much television and has probably seen every rom-com ever made.

Sarah has major crushes on Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, and a girl crush on Meryl Streep. If you don't think Meryl Streep is perfection, than you're wrong. Sarah loves Broadway musicals, particularly Les Miserables, Ragtime, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and anything written by Stephen Sondheim. Sarah loves white chocolate, cavalier king Charles spaniels, and the lyrics of Billy Joel.

She is very bad at sleeping and anything with numbers, and she drives too fast. She once spent six weeks in Germany and six years on her couch.

She is currently getting her MFA in creative writing from BYU.  When not working, reading, or binge watching Frasier, she is working on querying two novels (one adult and one YA) and drafting her third. She is somewhat embarrassed at having written this whole thing, but hey—you’re the one who read it.
