And then sometimes life just rocks
Yesterday I booked my first freelance writing gig on Elance. I'm totes legit now, guys. My secret: bid cheapest and quickest to start out. People like cheap, and what can I say. When it comes to words, I'm easy.
I won from InkPageant a query critique by a totally awesome NY agent. Freelance gig and free query critique? Guys, I'm not a huge believer in coincidence so I'll just say it: God is awesome.
If all goes according to plan, at the end of this month I will be moving in with a friend in SALT LAKE CITY! Since school ended, my job ended, so I figured, well, I might as well get a job up there, live with someone I know, and wait for it, drumroll, get out of Utah Valley! Don't get me wrong, I adore to the core my good ol' Happy Valley. I've just been here for...a long, long time. A change will be nice, and do me and my writing some definite good. Like I was talking about yesterday, the job thing is still kind of scary and I only have while my savings last to figure it out, but this part-timing plus freelancing thing just feels so good, and I somehow just know it will all work out. That's not usual for me. It's a nice feeling.
Being in a show is so flipping awesome and refreshing. Even when you're at rehearsal till eleven at night on a cold, damp night in an outdoor theater. Still such a blast, and its so satisfying to get such immediate results from your creative energies.
Every day my book gets closer and closer to being ready to submit. Still currently getting critiqued, but this is going to be kick-butt critique, guys, and will make my querying process that much smoother. Closer and closer. Every day.
So yeah, sometimes life just rocks. I feel like the past few week have been very me-centered and personal here on the blog. I hope that isn't too bothersome. The thing is, the past few weeks have been such a transitional period for me. Sister married, job ended, moving planned, decision making, all sorts of stuff. And when something is so heavily on your mind it's hard to talk or think about anything else, let alone write about anything else, right? But I think I'm beginning to come out on the other side of that transition, and to a very awesome place. Anyway, we'll try and keep things professional and helpful for you all here on the bloggy blog.
Keep writing. And get ready for more awesome.
