In the Room Where You Are Writing

Ever wondered what other writers' writing space looks like?

I'm over at the wonderful Callie Leuck's blog today, answering that very question. She had the awesome idea of doing a series around that question, and getting pictures and information from a slew of different authors. Answers to not only the where, but the when and with whom and with what as well. Hop on over to check it out. Oh, and ignore the unmade bed. And the messy desk. And the teddy bear.

Callie is taking volunteers for this series, if you're interested, but even if you're not I would still love to hear your answers in a comment somewhere.

Where do you write, and when?

I back at the kitchen table since No-No moved back in. Funny, that's what my post will be about today.

Very cool Sarah, I enjoyed the post. I like to see where people write :)

I love that you have your desk and bed space so close together! I tend to write with my laptop sitting on my bed, though I tend to be far more productive when I am sitting at my desk.

Right now I have a spare bedroom that I converted to my writing office. It's spartan and all work. I can get distracted easily and sometimes I have to pull the cord to the internet to make sure I stay on task.

Lately I have found that I do most of my writing from 4pm to midnight. It's been working very well for me. Over the last 7 days of writing I have completed 33,000+ words, finished 3 short stories and working on a fourth.

I actually have a little section in my living room entirely dedicated as my "writing space." I have a corkboard on an easel with pictures and notes, a big, comfy chair with a foot rest, and and end table that has turned into a pile-everything-on-it table. :)

Okay, I'm not quite as creative when it comes to writing spaces as everyone else! I write...on the couch...after dinner...with my notebook paper on my lap, and the tv is on, and my wine is in my hand. :) That's about it!

Depending on the weather - I like to write on a chair in my yard or on my porch. This winter, I've been on a wonderful oversized chair in my living room - with 2 little tables containing 5-10 books, coffee, notebook computer, notebooks and all other assorted "things I might need". It's a mess, but last weekend when we attempted to move my wonderful chair down the hall to "my room" (used to be for quilt making and crafting) we found that no matter which way we turned that chair - it wouldn't make the turn into the room.

All that to say - I'm shopping for a chair.
