Time for more updates. My WIP is going pretty well. As based on my meter over on the side, I am so so so close to being half-way done. I may already be half-way done depending on how many words I actually end up with. My MC is a quiet middle-aged guy, except in a few recent scenes he's kind of had mini blow ups, which I didn't expect. It keeps things a little more interesting, I suppose. I'm having a lot of fun with him. At this point in the story his problem is frustrating him because there is little he can do to solve it, which means its frustrating me because I need to figure things so that he will actually be doing something, or else pleh. Yes, that is now officially a word.
Ok, now your turn. What projects are you working on? What stage are you at? Jeez, I'm ending sentences with prepositions all over the place in this post, aren't I? Oh well. Anyway, yeah, whats the status on your current project? And do you have other minor side projects going on too? What keeps you motivated? What are some of your favorite tricks of the trade? Basically, how's it going writing-wise?

I'm at the editing stage on my second. It's 105,000 words at present, which I'm pretty comfortable with. It's a cautionary tale/love story/rural delemma, pitting conventional farming against organic farming with class and racial conflicts tossed into the mix. Hmmm...guess I don't have that elevator pitch down yet:).
What keeps me going? Love of the game. I LOVE writing. And thanks for asking!
Dilemma. Damn I hate it when I don't proofread....
I'm trying to start a story about a woman with schizophrenia that believes a pop singer is talking to her through his songs. Doing a lot of reading about Schizophrenia and the stories are scaring me into thinking I can't make this into a viable, interesting story and I shouldn't use this condition for entertainment. It's on hold at the moment.
I'm also trying to get into doing some freelance article writing but I have no expertise in anything but fiction so that is going slowly as well.
Things are just coming up roses on my end!
The first serious edits have started on my first novel and I'm cringing at all my basic mistakes. I have the sequel doing the rounds with my beta readers now while I work on a YA book as well.
Still working on what I'm pretty sure is a contemporary women's fiction. A middle aged woman gets the chance to correct a teenage mistake, problem is she doesn't know which one she's supposed to correct.
Editing my lit novel, and working on the first draft of a historical novel. Also short stories and the prospectus for my dissertation-eek!
Sheesh, my agent just advised me to put the 340 page novel I finished into 1st person (from 3rd) to make it 100% character-driven. ACK!!! I'm going to attempt a chapter this afternoon after I get over my angst.
My second book is about 40% done now. Last week was really good at 10k words written. This week not so much.
Monday the well went out so we had 40 homes without water for a while so that took up my day.
Tuesday was market/blog day and it took all day, but I managed to get in 900 words.
Today looks good for the writing, but I have a meeting at Barnes and Noble at noon regarding a book signing, and I have to get things ready for a book signing on Saturday.
I'll be happy with whatever gets done with my book this week.
Second round of editing on my WIP. Next it goes to my beta readers while switch over to a couple small projects.
Love reading about other people's projects (the comments too) It is inspiring. I'm editing a YA manuscript. I was all happy the first draft was complete and now I am RIPPING it apart. It's in utter shambles. It's giving me a heart attack thinking what a mess it is at this moment. haha.
It's not at the moment. With my current short story trilogy I've come to a grinding halt because the plot I've decided to use is threatening to turn itself into a novel length story arc. And I'm waffling on whether I should embrace that potential novel or kick it to the curb.
I second what Melissa said: I love reading about other people's projects, though it kinda breaks my heart when I still haven't settled on a novel idea, and I'm not very dedicated to getting any short stories finished. Ay caramba.
