Dear Muse: My Brand New YouTube Vlog

I've been wanting to do a vlog for a while now. YouTube is one of the best social networking and marketing resources out there. However, writers aren't known for being entertaining and comfortable in front of a camera, and I am no exception. But I've spent a long time thinking and working on this, and I believe I've finally created something that I'm actually somewhat proud of. The videos took all my very limited video editing ability, and I'm still trying to swallow my self-consciousness. I like them, though, and even if I feel a little awkward and embarrassed, I had fun making them and, like I said, they could turn out pretty useful marketing-wise.

Everyone is super busy, I know, but these are pretty short videos (about 3 minutes each), so if you get the chance, I could really use some feedback and additional ideas. I'd love to know what you think.

So, without further ado, I present to you, my fantabulous readers, the first three episodes of my debut video blog for writers, 'Dear Muse.'

Thanks for indulging me. I hope these were at least a little bit helpful and entertaining. Again, I'd love some feedback, so don't be shy. Happy writing!

Interesting character ideas. The janitor was good, not sure what to do with a puffer fish in boots, but it did make me think about non standard characters. Perhaps building a character for an inanimate object.

You will become more comfortable with vBlogging with experience. Day9 has some excellent ones. Number 100 is the best, but they are very video game related, but it might give you an idea or two on producing them.

I'll second the vote for Day9, and number 100 in particular.

You looked like you were having fun with these. I particularly liked number 2 and I thank your muse :)

You go, girl!

I was very impressed, both by your creativity and editing ability.

Also, not that anyone was wondering, but it was very clear in Letter 2 that you are not a lesbian, closeted or otherwise (including Meryl Streep doesn't count.) Quite a fine collection of, um, inspiration, you rounded up there, and I for one intend to appreciate it a few more times.

Just don't let this new hobby of vlogging steal away too much time/energy etc. from the novel.

Thank you all for the ideas and support!

@Beverly: haha :) I'm cracking up! Yeah, you're right, I'm definitely not a lesbian...Meryl Streep is just fantabulous and belongs in any group of...inspiring people :)

Sarah, GREAT WORK! I love the character ideas. I especially like Jocelyn she intrigues me. Lots of exciting things can happen while at your cousin's on the lake... Keep up the stellar work, and if the muses answer back, could you tell them I'm sorry and have them give me another chance. Thanks! Thank you for sharing with us!

I've been considering putting together a vlog for a while now, but haven't had the guts or gumption to actually do it. You're inspiring!

Oh also, depending on how bad your eyesight is, you might want to consider taking the lenses out of your glasses (or doing this to a cheap pair of glasses and not your nice ones), so your computer monitor doesn't reflect over your eyes.

I've set up an account so I could subscribe to you and follow my vlogging day-dream...
